I successfully completed a 30 day program there. The staff in providence house were amazing. They changed my life, and were very helpful, educational, and compassionate. I would highly recommend their residential program to anyone struggling with addiction. If you have the want to change it will happen if you give it your best.

Great staff, good program. All the negative reviews I see are from people who clearly don't understand what rehab and treatment are, and likely had a poor attitude.

The staff there was chill. Kinda sucked that you couldnt bring open squares or any hard candy unless they bought it when they run to the store. The program director personally stayed with me at mercy hospital to help me find a detox facility that i would feel safe at compared to just in a rehab cause of my diabetes. They allow ipods for music which is a huge copeing mechanisim for me. Definently better staffed nursing wise then lake villas gateway. Nursing at lake villa couldnt understand how i scale my insulin for what i eat. It was sad that they have some form of a medical degree and could not understand the simple sliding scale for taking insulin. Then they refused to give me insulin because it was writen wrong in the book in the morning because of "legalities". Auroras site was astounded when i told them that story. Nursing at aurora is compitent and edjucated compared to all the gateways. Here and Gateway West should be your first choice for rehabs. They honestly do their jobs, which is impossible for people nowadays. Overall theyre a great rehab.

By far the best program i have come across, as a chronic relapse patient, Gateway has given me more information by far, than any other treatment center I have attended. Not only are they treating you for your addiction, and explaining what is happening in your brain during the addiction, they also focus on self treatments like Meditation, Yoga, etc. This information is given to the patients everyday, everyday you learn a new thing, and the Counselors are not just there for a paycheck. They also have battled with addiction so they are not just speaking from a book. They have been through some type of addiction so not only are they understanding the persons problem, they themselves have gone thru the same thing as the patients. This program is not only for the patient, they have family meetings once a week that explains to the parent, or the persons support system, exactly what is going on inside the brains of the patients. Due to that, my father was informed that it is much more complex then they once thought, they do a fantastic job on explaining this to the persons support group which in turn, helped out tremendously when the patient graduates the program. The parent, the patient, and the counselor also have a 1 on 1 meeting on top of that where my father, ( patients support system) are free to ask any question they would like, so they too can understand how hard it is for the patient to not only stop the substance they were using, but to stay away from it after graduation. This is called the after care plan. From all the information you have learned while in treatment, all the information they get from the peers in there dorm. I myself can explain to my peers what was going on with me while i was struggling with my addiction with precise and correct information. I Thank Gateway For teaching me to find myself again. I still have every packet or worksheet from my stay. When in doubt i can pull out the paper work and find the information that i am looking for. Till this day I use that information. They make feel as comfortable as possible. After a day of learning, you can kick back and watch a movie, watch t.v, play Nintendo Wii, and snack away while doing it. Not to mention the chef at the facility makes the greatest home cooked food, 3 square meals a day, i gained 25 pounds there! Thank you Gateway!
